Payoneer - History and Facts

How did Payoneer evolve?

Payoneer Payment company Payoneer was founded in 2005 by successful Israeli businessman, Yuval Tal. He has since crafted the organization into a well-known international solution for different businesses in varying sectors looking to make payments globally.

Payoneer works by providing its partner companies with a selection of MasterCard® cards, which can then be credited with money whenever necessary. These cards are shipped out to a range of recipients in different countries, including freelancers, web developers and medical trial candidates. These recipients are then able to use their cards however they please, in the same way and in the same establishments as a regular credit card. Several companies that use Payoneer’s payment solution for a very large base of recipients also work with the company to make branded MasterCard® cards, a service offered to large partners needing a lot of cards.

Payoneer has a range of clients, such as iStockPhoto, Buy.at and Elance that span industries from pharmaceutical programs to freelancing websites and its always further widening its client base.

The founder of Payoneer, Yuval Tal, is a well-known businessman and has more than two decades of experience in Internet-based organizations. He is particularly knowledgeable in the areas of security technologies, international payments and card applications. Yuval Tal worked as the CEO of the organization until 2010; he now takes on the role of president, overseeing all of Payoneer’s operations.

Payoneer mainly operates out of the United States, with a central head office in New York and further smaller offices in Israel.

In the first week of June this year, Payoneer attended the Direct Selling Association’s (DSA) annual meeting in Florida. More than 1,000 industry professionals came together for the annual event, which consisted of presentations, exhibitions and unique networking opportunities.
